The Best Books for TEFL / TESL!

I started using these books with the first edition. I primarily have used them in EFL situations, whereas Molinsky and Bliss's Expressways series works best for ESL situations.

I fell in love with them simply because they have a very indirect way of approaching grammar, so a teacher has freedom to emphasize grammar as much as wanted. Most other textbooks will have only one or two sample dialogs for practice. Side by Side usually has six or more. I found it easy to expand upon Side by Side dialogs by reversing an answer from positive to negative, changing the time-tense/aspect of a dialog. Because the books are based on a functional-notional approach for each chapter, it is also easy to expand upon the chapters in that way as well. Each chapter deals with certain topics in common life. Those topics can be expanded upon. It is easy to do pairwork as well as small group work with these books.

The workbook complements the textbook very well, including a lot of extra contents for listening and speaking. The recordings that can go with the books are also very good, using a large variety of different people for the conversations. They are set up so that students can "repeat after me."

By no means go without the teacher's book! While the student books can be used well by themselves, the teacher's books are fantastic sources of practical information about how to teach with Side by Side. The teacher's books make it easy for a new teacher to really develop practical skills and methods to teach, as well as for the more experienced teacher to expand skills with.

I should mention that I have never met Steven Molinsky nor Bill Bliss. But I have had literally hundreds of students that were grateful that I found and learned to teach with Side by Side!

Easy to Use for an English Learners class

Like Book 1 in this series, this book is very detailed and provides for a lot of practice in reading, writing, and the interplay of conversation. The colored pictures help make the lesson objective clear as well as entertaining. Because it is written in English and because there are more examples than written English rules, it is perfect for a class format (not so much for home study). There are many opportunities for conversation, especially in comparision of cultures. Great book.

Great Supplement For College Calculus

Great supplement for college level calculus! However you have to download the pdf's which are a corrected version of the kindle download. For the price, I would highly reccommend this to anyone taking Calculus as a 1st or second year student in an Engineering program.

Some of these concepts in college level text books skip over or "assume" that you remember some of the basics that were taught or should have been taught in high school. I have been out of college for 21 years and find myself back in college as an older student. This ebook has been very helpful and get's straight to the point' throughtout.

Highlander's True Love: A Cree & Dawn Short Story

After the birth of their twins it is finally time for Cree and Dawn to have some private time together, however, they are interrupted by a woman claiming that Cree is her child’s father. Cree has to get to the bottom of this mess but he can’t remember the woman.

I typically don’t like short stories because they don’t usually have enough time to develop with too many details being left out that makes a story a good one. However, this story by Donna Fletcher was a really good one. It had a good plot, it flowed well and I loved it. This is a catch up of what our hero and heroine have been up to. I always love to find out what the H&H have been up to since their happy ever after.

True Love at it's best!

"Highlander's True Love" - more of Dawn and Cree - how could I not love it! Dawn and Cree are my favorite couple and Ms. Fletcher did not disappoint with this one. Once again, there is trouble in their village and Dawn gets right into the thick of it, much to Cree's dismay! LOL
This story is short but really sweet. Dawn and Cree love is true but it will be tested. Will their love be enough? You'll just have to read to find out! :o) I would most certainly recommend reading the other books in the series so you will know the background, but believe me, it's a great series! Thank you, Ms. Fletcher, for bringing Dawn and Cree back for another tale - I look forward to and hope for more from them as well as the other characters of the Highlander's Trilogy.

If I could give this book a ten I would. Donna has brought me back to Dawn and Cree in such a wonderful way. You feel their love for each other and at the same weave a story. Both of which will keep you reading. Oh how I love these two characters. There is mystery, and definitely some Cree action. Dawn is still her wonderful nosy self and does not let things go. She has a huge heart and does not let Cree stop her when she wants something. I was oh so happy to see the side characters. The ones you miss because they are also part of the story from the trilogy. I am so happy I read this.

bought this book to read to gain understanding with my 2 year old grandson who has had some "special needs" with forms of Apraxia/Autism per Dr diagnosis. this book was recommended, i did read some but then gave it to my daughter and family to use on a day to day basis. Highly recommended by my grandson's ST/OT workers.

It's written in easy to understand language and explains communication disorders well. It also includes information on how the parent can interact to effectively supplement speech services.

Elster's Q & A on MRI, 2nd Ed.

This is an outstanding book for the beginner and intermediate level student of MRI. The book provides understandable, yet much more in depth explanations of basic physics and gives intuitive insights into mechanisms which I have not found in other presentations. Also, the references at the bottom of each question are superb, often with commentary on their special value. Some excellent web sites are given which I had not found by search engine. The authors clearly devoted tremendous effort to this book to make it as good as it could be and they were successful. This book is a paradigm for presenting highly technical topics in an understandable way - very impressive, and highly recommended to anyone learning MRI.

This is a great source of information for all those involved in MRI practice. The authors give concise, readable, and even sometimes interesting answers to the most commonly asked questions pertaining to this complex subject, without unnecessary simplification. Both authors should be commended on a job well done. This beats the competition hands down!

Q & A in MRI is an excellent resource.

I used the first ed. of this book to study for my MR registry exam & found it most helpful in understanding pulse sequences & MRI physics. The author(s) answer the questions in concise, easy to understand jargon that won't confuse the student, yet is technical enough for experienced technologist's to benefit. The second ed. is a continuation of this tried & true method of teaching & I most certainly would recommend this book, especially for anyone that is just learning MRI or getting ready to sit for the registry exam.
